REMEMBER:
“They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, not the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them.”
These familiar words remind us of something that we ought to do. We ought to remember those who laid down their lives in the cause of freedom.
While we might enjoy dressing up and the machinery or amusements of a past age, we must never forget to honour those who died fighting for their country.
But in doing so we should always remember, love and worship one who made a far greater sacrifice, his name is Jesus. He left His Father behind and came to a world of rebels to bring peace and reconciliation to His enemies.
He paid the ultimate price, sacrificially giving Himself to deliver us from the power of evil and tyranny. Sin and Satan would happily continue to oppress us, but Jesus died and rose to set His people free.
His service record tells us that:
God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. John 15:13–14
“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” Mark 1:15
You honour Him by surrendering to Him, and receiving the free pardon He paid for with His life.
As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: John 1:12
Remember, He died and rose from the dead, providing life now and forever to every believer.
