The weather was poor but we managed to get out for an hour, and what a busy hour it was! The town was full of people from all over the country as there was a Mobile Home event in the show field on Malton Road.

The People With Whom We Spoke:
This lady was on a motorised wheel chair, the victim of a car accident, but with a cheerful attitude. We spoke at length about the nature of the gospel, but like so many in these parts she was stuck in the ‘I’m a good person, God will see and understand I’m not perfect, but better than others’, RUT.
The regularity of this explanation is causing alarm bells to ring in my head, the delusion on our generation is strong, and they dare you to contradict them, but God does in His Word:
Paul Writes in Romans Chapter 3: [Quoting from Psalm 14]
10 As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one;
11 There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God.
12 They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, NO, NOT ONE.”
Modern man’s delusion comes from an ever increasing ignorance of the Bible, what a privilege it is to explain the Bad News and then Follow It Up with the Good News! Jeanette left with a bundle of books, and we pray that the Living Lord might show her mercy.
She came asking for a copy of John’s gospel, her friend had received one earlier and she wanted a copy for herself. She was in a but of a hurry, so we gladly fulfilled her request and she went on her way.
Nick and Vanessa spoke at length with a Methodist / Anglican local preacher, there was clearly some common ground and its good to find that the Lord has people preaching the Gospel in those places.
Finally one dear old lady paused enroute to the hair dresser, she accepted a leaflet and promised to read it as she waited. She was closely followed by her daughter who took us at our word and ‘Helped Herself’ to a number of books, leaflets and cds from the table. She spoke freely as she did, revealing she was a Roman Catholic, who believed that a priest could forgive sin. As you will be glad to know we took the opportunity to impress on her the Biblical truth that priests are sinners and can’t forgive sins, that there is only one who can, and most definitely does because He wasn’t a sinner and died as God’s appointed mediator.
1 Timothy 2:
5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,
6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,
7 for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle.
Those who believe on Him enjoy the full and final forgiveness of all unrighteousness as His free gift to men. Make sure He’s the only One you depend on for forgiveness, He alone saves.
19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.
12 “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
